Kenzo: The birth of the brand
This brand was created in Paris in 1970 by Kenzo Takada. Initially named Jungle Gap, its name will be changed in 1980 to the one we know today.
The founder of this brand studies fashion in Japan at Bunka Fashion’s College. He then moved to the fashion capital: Paris. Its goal is to convey its vision of fashion through a brand with a unique style.
He therefore participated in several Parisian fashion shows and began to make contacts. In 1970, the first Jungle Gap store opened in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. This store offers a unique universe representing the jungle.
In 1980, the Kenzo brand moved to Place des Victoires with a boutique and offices. Over the years, this brand will become a key player in fashion. In 1993, the company joined the LVMH group and affirmed its reputation in the world of luxury ready-to-wear.
Subsequently, the founder of this French fashion house will give way to a new designer: Felipe Oliveira Baptista.
